The Sand Lamp

A sculpture that never stands still. Turn it with your hand and watch the sand slowly fall through the glass: dunes, ridges and horizons form before your eyes, and never the same way twice. Switched on, it becomes a soft mood light; switched off, it's simply a beautiful object.

How it works

• Turn it. Rotate the glass disc by hand.
• Watch. The sand slowly falls and settles into a new landscape.
• Start again. Every turn draws a different scene: no two are ever the same.

Why people love it

• Every turn is different. The sand never draws the same landscape twice.
• Completely silent. No motor, no hum: the sand moves by gravity alone, so it's perfect on a desk or a nightstand.
• Plug in anywhere. The LED light is powered by USB cable: a computer, a phone charger or a power bank.
• Six sand colours — black & white, blue, gold, green, purple, red — to match what you already have at home.
